"After a 20 year hiatus while “life” was happening, I re-engaged with art with a hunger that keeps me exploring with all kinds of media and themes. I find painting the birds contemplative and fun, the collage work with torn papers stretches my imagination, and the grid work satisfies the desire for order. Sometimes I work in miniature and sometimes eight feet wide.

I love the exuberance of vibrant colors and the earthiness of neutrals. The result is that some days the inks, dyes, acrylics, and watercolors flow across paper with abandon; the next day a concept may manifest in tender paper weavings in soft hues. Subjects that intrigue me range from landscapes and living forms inspired by the natural world to emotions and themes from inward reflections that may be influenced by sounds, writings, or meditation. I make choices at many turning points in the creative process and in transferring impressions to surface designs one of the challenges is to decide whether a finished piece will be abstract, representational, geometrical, or even whimsical.
