Making photographs since 1998, Ryan's
images often capture a unique aspect, relaying
a special feeling of emotion from a seemingly
"regular" subject. This can be seen in many
forms throughout his portfolio, from his
imagery of street life, to urban landscape, to
wilderness and flora.
"Black and white photography carries a certain
mood, and attitude, not found in any other
medium. It is true that an image is worth a
thousand words, and for me, black and white
can seemingly relay a thousand emotions."
Since embarking on his true passion of
photography, Ryan's award winning work has
been received with great review at gallery
showings and art festivals throughout the
Midwest. He has traveled extensively in pursuit
of his passion, recently covering 26 states and
4 Canadian Provinces, leading to his current
collection.
Ryan shoots with both Mamiya 7II and Holga
medium format film cameras. He uses
traditional darkroom techniques. No images
have been digitally manipulated. All images are
silver gelatin prints on fiber base paper,
mounted and matted on 100% archival
museum rag mat board.
