A recent series entitled 'Obstacles' is inspired by poignant teachings from Alex's yoga teacher and his long time study of Buddhism and Taoism. This series explores various concepts: our attitude when encountering obstacles in our lives, how we handle different kinds of obstacles, and what characteristics we strive to acquire in order to better handle obstacles in our future. Water has always been used as a metaphor in Taoism for having the ideal attributes of both endurance and flexibility, creating a balance of ease and fluidity when encountering the proverbial rock. These six images were all taken on a one day hike at Twin Falls in Washington. They were captured with a digital camera, but have not been digitally altered in any way. Long exposures and subtle camera movements were used to create the images in this series. Each canvas print is professionally printed, mounted on stretcher bars, coated to prevent fading and ready to hang.
