About the artist

Mark Nogaki was born on September 11, 1955 in Seattle and has lived in this area all his life. From the time he was young, Mark has been involved with the  arts.  As a child, he was one of several artistically gifted young people with developmental disabilities whose art as featured in an exhibit at the former department store, Frederick & Nelson. In his earlier years, Mark worked in clay, crafting small cars and figurines --  mostly dogs, which were remarkable for their detailed and polished execution. For the past decade or more, Mark’s art has focused on drawing, reproductions of which he features on holiday and birthday postcards that he sends to a mailing list of 200. This generosity is typical of Mark, who has always given his art away to friends, family and anyone to whom he takes a liking. In recent years, his teachers have included Alex Strazzanti and Jeannie Trimarco-Strazzanti owners of the Oasis Gallery. For more than 25 years, Mark has worked in the sheltered workshop at Northwest Center and has been a resident of the assisted-living facility, Alpha Supported Living Services. He currently resides in Shoreline.
