"I get great joy from working with a camera
to explore the play of light and subject
matter, and to bring unusual images from
travel abroad.

My father was a commercial artist, sign
maker, and photographer. I learned enlarging
and developing black and white film in a
home darkroom as a child.  I have fond
memories of my father and me working with
images with the aroma of hypo and developer.

I have learned to capture images even when
the amount of time available for doing so is
short (the light is fleeting, the airplane flight
must be caught, the residents of the area are
shy, or the government prohibits
photography…such as in the USSR in the
1980’s.

This current exhibit is from trips to
Asia…Vietnam, Mongolia, Uzbekistan,
China, and India. My love of Asia started
with the opportunity of attending college in
Japan in 1963, and then traveling to many
parts of Asia in many roles, from professional
singer (Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines,
Guam, Wake), to peace activist and
consultant (USSR, Central Asia, Uzbekistan,
Vietnam) to photographer and consultant
(Russian Far East, Korea, Japan, Mongolia,
Vietnam)
It is my pleasure to share these images of my
travels with you."
