"I am compelled to paint what I love and/or what I am curious about. Being on or near the water is one of my favorite activities. This series was inspired by a visit to Seattle's Wooden Boat Center last summer It rekindled a childhood love I had for being in, on, or near the water. My first focus while painting is my subject and its placement on the canvas. Next, I reflect on the mood I want the painting to express, and I then play with values, patterns and color. Of course, there is the paint...ACRYLICS! I have chosen to work with acrylics because of their low toxicity, quick drying properties, and ease. Plus, they are wonderfully forgiving. I love the effects that multiple layers of glazing creates and look forward to tapping the depths this medium can take me.
