About the artist |
"My paintings have been described as “landscapes of the mind,” and that is true, to a point. “Landscape” continues to be a strong source of inspiration, but not just as land mass, plants, and water. “Landscape,” as an abstract image, may be indoors. Or of people and animals. And as an architect, often “landscape” certainly includes human built forms. My architecture includes the play of color, light and form from my paintings into most every project. Accordingly, the structure of architecture influences my paintings. Travel also plays a major role in my work. Travel never ceases to expand my visual sensibilities, and accordingly, drawing a sketch allows me to better understand a new place. Sketching trains the eye to stop, and make an examination of not just things in front of me, but also, of the feeling or sense of the space. I also find inspiration from my travel photographs, as they are often used as a base for the organization of a new landscape painting." - Patricia Emmons Patricia's architecture Web site is www.CurtisAndEmmons.com |
