Bob Boundy was born in Detroit, Michigan
and graduated from the University of
Michigan with a Master's Degree in
Metallurgical Engineering. Recruited to work
at the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory in
Pasadena, CA, he spent 38 years there
involved in space exploration technology.

At age 40, Boundy started working more
seriously with the art he always loved. His
first medium was serigraphs (silk screen
printing). Starting out on his own, he read
books about the subject, bought the wood and
nylon (silk is no longer used) and made his
own frames.

Boundy took an early retirement from JPL in
order to devote more time to his art. Moving
to Seattle in 1993, he continued to produce
serigraphs. After 25 years of silk screening, he
changed media and started work on linocut
prints, carving his designs into linoleum
blocks. Later he used a scroll saw to separate
parts of the design so they can be hand inked
before being run through the press. His
editions usually run to 10 or less for the
linocut prints.

With wide ranging interests, Boundy's prints
include subjects from his work as a space
engineer, his travels to Egypt and Asia, as
well as plants and birds from his garden.
